Summary: According to the article “The Mechanical bride”, the author states that people in today’s world take in information differently than they have in the past. Irrationalism in journalism is becoming intolerable for intelligent people and demand to be viewed as being in a higher society. Individuals now are influenced more by how the information is displayed but is not fully engulfed or does not take anything away from the information given. Part of this problem may be the shift in technology. You see people looking at their screens but in reality they’re looking at almost nothing. Individuals don’t read to learn, they read to just read and then retain none of the information that was displayed. Often times it leads to a misinterpretation of the information. The art of journalism is dying.

Commentary: The author does a very good job at being descriptive and you can tell that he is definitely passionate about this topic. His description on the art form of journalism is right on the nose on what is happening today with modern media. However, you can tell that this is just the intro. The author does not provide enough detailed information about the topic but does leave readers wanting to know more about the situation. Along with that, he doesn’t provide a clear and concise description of where he is going to be going in this article. Even after reading the article several times through, I still can’t seem to figure out the main idea. That can be positive and negative. It could mean that the author is trying to make the readers come up with their own interpretation and think outside the box. For those of us that strictly read for the sake of just completing an assignment, it makes it a bit complicated.
